One Day Classes

Our One Day Classes are interactive, hands-on, and designed to provide participants with a wide range of practical life skills. NIC’s trainers integrate cognitive based interventions and experiential learning theory with the best research to create meaningful and practical learning opportunities.

Interactive Parenting (Adult) “Child as the Victim” Empathy Parenting
Interactive Parenting: “Child as the Victim” Empathy Parenting Class looks a child developmental stages, the impact of trauma (domestic violence, verbal abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, substance abuse) on children’s development, and strengthening healthy boundaries, rewards and consequences.

Petty Theft Adult)
Petty Theft Class addresses defense mechanisms driving theft behaviors, honest self-assessment, impact of theft on self, others, and community (victim empathy component), and creating prosocial strategies for self-efficacy.

​

Substance Abuse (Adult)
Substance Abuse Class identified and teaching participates to challenge defense mechanisms driving poly-substance use and abuse, honest self-assessment, impact of poly-substance use, brain development, ‘group thinking,’ freedom challenge, identifying sobriety team, and creating relapse prevention plans.

Triple R–Rationality, Responsibility & Resolution (Adult)
Triple R: Rationality, Responsibility & Resolution Class develops a rational explanation of one’s behavior intended to shift the individual from external to internal locus of control; a Responsibility Tool-Set that includes stress management tips, anger management tips, and interpersonal skill-building tools, and Resolution to create goals and outline specific steps toward goal-attainment.

Alternatives to Aggression (Adult)
Alternatives to Aggression helps identify and challenge defense mechanisms driving aggression, encourages honest self-assessment and the impact of decisions on self, others and community, and replacing aggression with stress management skills, interpersonal skills, and self-efficacy skills. In accordance with the statues regarding domestic violence offender treatment in the State of Colorado, this class does not fulfill the requirements of court ordered offender therapy.

Ethics and Victim Empathy/Alternatives to Aggression (Adult)
Ethics and Victim Empathy Class explores practical strategies for identifying and realigning core values and personal identity, enhancing impulse control, understanding the impact of personal choices on self, others, and community, and clarifying pro-social ethics and values to create better decision making skills.

Registration and pre-payment is mandatory to attend all classes. 

Your spot is not reserved until payment is received in full.

All classes close 10 days prior to the date of the class. 

​

  • Personal checks and Medicaid are not accepted.

  • Payments by credit/debit cards are accepted online and over the phone.

  • Payments by money order and cash are only accepted in person or mailed to the main Lakewood address.

​

If you are not able to attend a class, you must provide notice of cancellation at least 24 hours in advance of the class by phone or email.

Failure to provide notice will result in forfeiture of your payment.
